An Evening in Cantigny | Sydney & Joe Wedding

Shannon and I made the trip up to Chicago for the third time this year to have some fun with Sydney and Joe on their wedding day. Before we arrived at the wedding hotel, we had not actually met them. But, a few Skype conversations were enough to know that we were going to have a blast working with these two…and we totally did. One of most fun couples of the entire year, and we all had a great time running around getting some fun and cool photos. These two crazies found out about us last year from their friends Emily and Mike whose wedding we photographed (incidentally, one of our favorite couples from last year. Good people know good people! Check out their seemingly ancient blog post HERE)Their reception was at the historic Cantigny Park, and it was an incredible venue to do all of their photographs. Apparently this is one of those spots where everyone flocks to for their wedding photos (I stopped counting after the 12th wedding party I saw), and I can see why. Thankfully, we had never been there or seen it before, so we were going in with a totally blank slate…which is a massive help for our creativity and doing things differently than other do.

We had some unique photo ideas that we had been wanting to do for a long time…well over a year. Because we could tell how adventurous and fun Sydney and Joe were, we knew they would be up for it. There were just as excited as I was when we pulled the ideas off and created something truly unique. We love love love love love it when our couples “team up” with us to create new and different things. When the four of us are working together on something, great things happen!
