We always love when we get to photograph the weddings of siblings and close friends of our past couples. Sarah is the sweet sister of one of our brides from 2014 (check out their Mizzou wedding HERE). When she and Jonathan got engaged, they knew they would be getting married in Kansas City, since that is closer to their families, and she didn’t think we’d be able to do the wedding. We of course had to be there – and they were super excited as well!
Sarah and Jonathan met in nursing school and have been together ever since. They lived together with her sister, Shannon, until she was married, and then were engaged not too long after that. Once Sarah finally decided on what type of ring she wanted (took her a year to decide!), Jonathan proposed to her at home, in front of their fire, with the ring inside an origami flower he had made.
On the surface it may seem like Jonathan and Sarah have very different personalities, and while it is no secret that Sarah is incredible vivacious while Jonathan is more subdued, they compliment each other very well. And we have been assured that in the privacy of their home Jonathan has a quirky side that comes out 🙂
Apart from their wedding day being an incredibly gorgeous fall day, taking place at the beautiful Belvoir Winery, they had a few of those quirky touches that made it unforgettable. The most note-worthy was the presence of their skeleton, Bucky, who makes regular appearances with them each year around Halloween. It was a big day for Bucky, who was presented with a bride, Lenore, on the wedding day. Then, they also received a wonderful little skeleton dog as well…lovingly named Fluffy.
And you know a couple is in love when the bride can convince the groom to mime “Love is an Open Door” during their first dance. That was a moment to remember! But all in all, we had a wonderful time seeing old friends and enjoying celebrating the day with a very special couple!
Congratulations Sarah & Jonathan, you are amazing!
