If a bit of rain on your wedding day is good luck, then Ashley and Tom are set for an amazing life together…because they got a lot of rain! We know what it is like to have your wedding plans shifted due to weather (we had rain AND tornadoes at our wedding!!!), and while it is never ideal, how you respond to that makes all the difference in the world. And I can tell you, that Ashley and Tom responded amazingly. It was about 30 minutes before the ceremony, and we were just finishing up some bridal photos with Ashley, when the sky opened up and the downpour began. We all took cover from the rain under the awning (with Ashley, myself, and Shannon from the Winegarten, stuck outside and staying put to ensure Ashley stayed dry) and Joel ran around shooting photos and getting wet. But during it all Ashley was so calm and relaxed, even as all her family and some early guests looked out from inside the Weingarten with looks of concern at our predicament. Once the rain let up, we ran Ashley in under umbrellas, and they began to decide what to do about the ceremony. Tom was only concerned with how his bride was doing and not worried at all about the ceremony location – as long as she was ok with it :). Ashley and her family made the decision to move it inside since it was certain to be wet and muddy at the planned site. So 30 minutes after it was scheduled, the ceremony got underway in it’s new location, and it was simply lovely. When Tom saw Ashley for the first time, his eyes lit up and the biggest smile came across his face and didn’t move. It was beautiful. And though the sky was still threatening, we didn’t get any more rain and were able to get the rest of the photos easily and move on to the party at Our Lady of the Snows Shrine. All in all a great day – even despite the weather! And while good weather is ideal, no matter what, at the end of the day Tom and Ashley were man and wife. Congratulations you guys!
