We have had a number of couples lately who we have not had the chance to meet until right before the wedding. Usually, this is because they do not live in the area. This is certainly the case with Brittany and Chris. In fact, they do not even live in the same hemisphere. These two are both in the US Navy and currently stationed on the tropical island of Guam. This was actually our second Navy wedding in the past few months, and we still have one more on the calender for next year! Planning for a wedding in St Louis in early March always could mean the weather is not very warm yet…which is a worry when you are acclimated to tropical island weather. But, I do not think that they were anticipating SNOW. Yes, snow. We have had so much snow this late winter (and now spring), and it was veeeeeery cold on their wedding day. Everything was instructed to bring along their coats so that in the time we spent outside that there was no major cold-related issues 🙂
The wedding was at First Baptist Church in O’Fallon, IL, and Brittany had found out about us from this wedding early last year. They had met whilst in the Navy, and so they did their planning from quite a distance on deployment. Thankfully, she had a lot of help on this end, and you could definitely tell (especially in all of the wonderful Navy-themed spread throughout the day). The ceremony was very sweet…it was easy to tell how excited everyone was for the two of them. We headed to the St Louis Arch for most of the photos, and because of how frigid it was, we got through them as quickly as possible! All of the girls especially were so brave, though…they were definitely VERY cold, but they did not complain about it. The reception was at the fabulous LeClaire Room, which is one of our favorite spots.
Congrats again, Brittany and Chris, and it was awesome getting to spend your wedding day with you! (and please, enjoy your warm weather for us while we stare at a foot of snow outside our windows!)
