Angie and Paul are like the perfect all-American poster couple. They kind of look like Ken and Barbie. It’s adorable. I’m sure they are going to have adorable poster kids too – the kind that are totally athletic, smart and beautiful…you know the envy of all the other kids. But I’m getting ahead of myself. I can’t help it. When you see such love and joy in a couple, you can’t help imagining a perfectly happy ever after for them! And that is how we feel about Paul and Angie.
It was actually one of those fun coincidences when we first met her and her mom and sister last year. We got to talking and Angie mentioned that she lived in Chicago now, but she’s from the west end of Belleville. Joel was instantly excited because that’s where he grew up too! They started talking and realized they actually knew some of the same people. We love fun connections like that!
One of my favorite moments of the day had to be when Angie’s dad came in to see her for the first time after she got her dress on. He totally started crying. It was so precious. I love it when dad’s get emotional, especially over their baby girls. It always gets me. Another fun moment (although at the opposite end of the emotion spectrum) was when a bunch of the guys dragged Paul to the dance floor, took off his shoe and cut the toe of his sock off (apparently it’s a Danish tradition to make the groom appear ugly to other women now that he’s taken)!
It’s all those little moments…Like when the flower girl just ran up to the ring-bearer and hugged him (they were the cutest things ever!). Or when Paul saw Angie alone in the sanctuary the first time and they just held each other. Like when all the girls were using their little motorized fans to cool off at the park. Or when one of one the groomsmen kept insisting that the guys all make a “cowboy face.” Or when Paul’s uncle from Denmark gave such a moving toast. That’s what makes each story unique.
Angie and Paul we had so much fun with you, your family and friends! We wish you every happiness and a true fairy tale ending! Congratulations!
