My mom has been single most of my life. Like most single mothers, she had to make countless sacrifices over the years for her kids. Between working countless hours and going without herself so that my brother and I could always feel taken care of, she was an amazing mother. I know how much she has made me a better person because of what she instilled into us. One of the things she sacrificed over the years was finding a relationship that would fill that missing part of her heart. So, when she and Michael started talking last year and realized this was something special, it was a very exciting time for her and for the rest of us. It was more than just a blessing…it was an answer to the prayers from so many of us. As is usually the case, Michael knew before she did that he was in love and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He proposed every day for months before she accepted. It became almost comical, but once they both knew and the engagement was official, they were excited to plan a special celebration to join their two families and share their joy with their friends. We are all spread out all over the place across the country, so they decided to have the wedding where my mom, brother, and I spent most of our lives together…in Colorado Springs. I always love getting to go back to my hometown, so it was especially fun for me. Edmund loved getting to play with is cousins and feed the goats that were on the Black Forrest Bed and Breakfast property. We know we are biased, but we’re pretty sure he was the cutest little ring bearer ever! It was such a wonderful, and I am so happy for my mom that I cannot even really put it into words. She has done so much for us over the years, and we know this has been something she has been dreaming of for so many years. It brings such incredible joy to our hearts that she found someone as great as Michael.
It was a wonderful day, and we are so glad we were able to be there to celebrate with our family! We love you so much!
If you follow us on social media you will know that this has been a year of many destination weddings for us. We have been all over the country and world this year. In addition to our amazing clients, we’ve gotten to photograph two of our close family member’s weddings this year: Joel’s sister in New York this past June and my (Shannon’s) mom in Colorado in August. We only have one more trip this year, and we are excited to be able to sleep in our own bed on a regular basis. Joel shot all of the photos for this wedding, and he played the part of 1/3 family, 1/3 guest, and 1/3 photographer. I know he had so much fun doing this for my Mom and Michael…although he said he slightly apologizes for the quantity of Edmund photos he included. 🙂
