Here’s another wedding from your friendly neighborhood St Louis wedding photographers featuring Christina & Josh!
So, no…Christina & Josh did not meet in jail as the blog title might suggest. They are actually one of the many success stories from eHarmony! But, they do both work in the criminal corrections industry, so they had a lot in common on that side of things. It was not until half-way through our first time meeting them that we found out that Christina is a photographer herself! No pressure at all, right? Shooting other photographers always adds another level of pressure, because you know they have a more discerning taste, but it is also a humbling honor to know they they would trust us to do something so important. The awesome thing is, though, that you know how much they value it. During our engagement session at Grant’s Farm, we got to know them even more and had a wonderful time.
The wedding was going to be down in the Carbondale, IL area, and as we were driving down that morning, the weather started rolling in. Rain, rain….and more rain. It pretty much rained the entire day non-stop. But everyone was relaxed and at ease. Yes, by the time we finished the photos beforehand, they were also wet and a little cold, but that’s nothing being in front of a heater for a little bit cannot fix. Our first photo location was at the old Franklin County Historic jail. As soon as we walked into that place, I was in heaven. They had wanted to do some photos there because of their job, and I knew we were going to be able to get some great, unique shots. We sure did. We were planning to go to Giant City State Park next, but time was running out (and the rain was not!), we stopped by a lake for a bit….and got more awesome photos!
The wedding and reception were both at the same place, and even though the planned outdoor reception moved indoors, it was beautiful and very nice (and dry!). It was such a great day, and the reception was even more fun because we setup our fun photobooth! One of the highlights for the evening was watching Christina, Josh’s sister, and a few other friends do quite the spited rendition of the Time Warp. In the end, we sent them off with a lovely sparkler exit!
Congrats to you both. It was awesome getting to walk through this with you and share in it all with your friends and family. Blessings to you!
Joel
P.S. My wife Shannon is amazing. So amazing. The only way we could get those epic rain shots on the bridge was for she to be out there holding the flash without any cover at all. She was absolutely drenched and freezing, but because she did that, we got some of the coolest shots we have ever done. I love you, babe…I would be nowhere without you.
