A few weeks back we had an amazing wedding with Stephanie and Scott. From the first moment we met with this couple, we knew we were going to have a great time while we worked. After doing this for a while, you get used to spotting various things about how a couple will be even after just the initial consultation, and it was clear that these two would be a very relaxed, fun-loving couple. They certainly did not disappoint!
The ceremony was in our hometown of Collinsville, IL. Other than dealing with one rather….hmmm…. “over-zealous” coordinator, the ceremony went off without a hitch. It was definitely a beautiful service…there were no doubts left about how committed these two are to each other. There was one funny moment with the unity candle, now that I think about it. It was the first time I have ever seen the center unity candle lit without the couple even touching the two side candles. Those in the audience who noticed the accidental mix-up had a little chuckle over it.
For the post-ceremony photos we popped over to Tower Grove Park (always a favorite spot). Shooting photos with the full wedding party was a blast. I am not sure if we or they were having more fun with it all.
For the reception, we headed to a hall on the campus of SLU, and shortly after dinner, everyone let loose. Everyone was having a great time while being very well behaved and respectful. Seriously….what more can you ask for? I will say, though, that the record was set for the amount of guys that danced with the groom out of any wedding I have ever shot. They just kept lining up for him; I suppose it would have been rude to decline (especially considering the wedding gifts, and all).
Wanted to give a special thanks to our new friend Cathy. Our regular second-shooter Melissa had to call off that day (and none of the others upon whom I can often call in need were available). After posting on Craigslist.com looking for a shooter, I got in touch with Cathy, and she jumped in and was a huge help. I always use at least two photographers, and she fit the bill perfectly. Great job!
Congrats, Stephanie and Scott. You are a great couple, and it was an honor being part of your day!
