Susan and Mike are sunshine people – maybe that’s why it was shining so brightly for their wedding. You can’t be around them and not be filled with joy! Susan wore a gorgeous ivory Maggie Sottero gown with jewelry that she, her mom and sister hand-made for her sister’s wedding. She was also wearing one of her grandmother’s gorgeous diamond rings on her right hand. She definitely had her something borrowed! 🙂 She was just glowing – matching the radiant sun outside! Let’s talk about that sun and this crazy weather we’ve been having in St. Louis this year…
We had tons of rain in the spring – nearly all of our engagement sessions we in the rain or had to be rescheduled at least once because of the rain. Susan and Mike’s was one of those. We actually ended up doing it inside the City Museum, which was pretty cool. However, on the day of their wedding there was anything but rain! It had to have been the hottest day of the year up to that point. And while we love no rain on a wedding day, this was an entirely different monster. The guys were all decked out in 3-piece tuxes, and the girls were gorgeous in floor length gowns (with pockets!). Beautiful as they all were, they were also extremely hot, as the sun was scorching down on us. We actually did have one of the groomsmen get heatstroke which resulted in him having to visit the ER after the ceremony! So note to our future brides, encourage your bridal party to stay hydrated…with water!!! However, in spite of the heat they all did such a GREAT job! (And our lost groomsman did return during the reception).
We did photos in Faust Park, and let me just say that if you haven’t been there you need to go! It was my first time in the park, and it was a bummer that it was so scorching, because we would have loved to stay a bit longer – there are so many cool locations! The bridal party did ride on the indoor carousel which was a lot of fun, and a nice break from the heat!
All in all, I’d say the day was really joy-filled. Since they got married on 4th of July weekend, they were treated to their own fireworks show during the reception at The Millennium. Joel was running around like crazy trying to find the perfect spot for them to watch them and get photos – he actually had to talk the restaurant manager into letting them go out on their veranda. But in the end it was just beautiful! Congratulations Susan & Mike – we wish you all the best!
